The United Nations on Mt. Hermon

The United Nations set up shop on Mt. Hermon, and this sent the conspiracy theorists into overdrive, because of the significance of Mt. Hermon. This mountain was highlighted in the Book of Enoch, which is one of the books that did not make it into the standard Bible, though it does appear in The Apocrypha and Pseudepigrapha of the Old Testament. In addition, some of the Oriental Orthodox religions embrace the Book of Enoch.

Enoch was a prophet, and the great-grandfather of Noah. The controversial Book of Enoch was embraced as Scripture by some of the earliest Church Fathers. They believed that the book was not accepted into the Bible for some of the more radical ideas that it contained, such as a class of angels called the Watchers who came down to Mt. Hermon and then fornicated with Human women. The book also talked about Enoch’s many visits to Heaven.

Mount Hermon, though singular, actually denotes a cluster of mountains with three distinct peaks known as “the Hermonites” that straddle the border between Syria and Lebanon, and the mountain itself is the highest point in Syria. To put this into biblical perspective, Mt. Hermon is 40 miles from the Sea of Galilee where Jesus spent much of his time teaching; Moses battled the residents of Mt. Hermon; and the Lord himself appeared in the vicinity at various times.

References to Mt. Hermon were not limited to the Bible. It appeared in the Sumerian Epic of Gilgamesh, which is one of the oldest texts in the world. In the Book of Enoch, Mount Hermon was the place where the Grigori, who were also called the Watchers, traveled back and forth between Earth and the Fifth Heaven. Mt. Hermon and the Watchers were referred to in other ancient and religious texts as well.

The Watchers were supposed to watch over Humans, and they included both holy angels and fallen angels, which means they had free will to choose their own path. The holy angels were those who did their jobs as instructed, and the fallen angels were those who lusted after the daughters of men on Earth, which is where we get references to “the sons of god with the daughters of men.” Whether they were his sons physically, or just figuratively, is one of those topics that sets off heated arguments.

Not only did some of the Watchers want to take Human women as wives, they wanted to teach Humans forbidden knowledge such as botany, astrology, astronomy, meteorology, and weaponry. They also taught us the art of making ourselves beautiful with makeup and jewelry. We weren’t supposed to know these things, and they even inscribed some of their teachings onto stone tablets. They taught us the art of letters, which means reading and writing, so that we could read the tablets.

Mt. Hermon was also referred to as Baal-Gad and Baal-Hermon, and the Watchers built a city on, or at the base of, the mountain. By some accounts they built a palace for the evil god Ba’al.

The Watchers were physically a race of giants, and the children of their unions with Human women were also giants. These children were called the Nephilim. Here you have, quite literally, a race of giants who carried the genetics of two separate humanoid species: Humans and Watchers.

The Nephilim turned out to be troublesome beyond imagining. They ate Humans, and pillaged Earth, so you can imagine the other woes that they were capable of. Everything God created on Earth, they were destroying. The Watchers who begot the Nephilim became the ostracized fallen angels, for creating this very serious problem.

On the one hand, the Watchers taught us valuable knowledge, which was good for us, but bad for them. On the other hand, their offspring wreaked havoc on Earth, which was very bad for everybody, and probably not their intention.

The Great Flood was supposed to wipe out the Nephilim giants, but history brings us multiple legends of giants from all over the world, who existed after the Great Flood. Whether they were direct descendants of surviving Nephilim, or whether they were begotten in the same way, is a much debated mystery. Some believe that the giants were merely fictional legends, while others believe they were real, physical entities. As bones of giants have actually been discovered, as detailed in the book Ancient Aliens and the Lost Islands: Through the Wormhole, they likely did exist.

One such giant comes from ancient Ireland, in the legends of a race called the Fomorians. Even the Fomorian giants did not learn the lessons of the Watchers and the Nephilim, because they terrorized mankind, though not to the degree of the earlier giants. So what does any of this have to do with the United Nations?

Mt. Hermon was a pivotally important location in the ancient world, and it boasted a temple on top built of hewn blocks. The temple was built on an oval-shaped stone plateau. The temple was rectangular, and it did not have a roof. This temple is believed to be where the Watchers themselves conferred with one another about whether to take Human wives. Other temples were built there as well.

In 1973, war broke out between Syria and Israel, on and around Mt. Hermon. Israel was using Mt. Hermon as a radar outpost, and some of Israel’s most sensitive and secret equipment was located there. Israel was also at war with Egypt.

The United States got involved, which resulted in an agreement, and a buffer zone. The agreement created a United Nations Disengagement Observer Force (UNDOF) to keep the peace. The United Nations Observer Force maintains an area of separation, which is 46.6 miles long, and varies in width from .12 miles to 6.21 miles, and Mount Hermon became the seat of the highest permanently manned United Nations position in the world. Mount Hermon is not one of the tallest mountains in the world, however; it’s just the highest location for a United Nations base.

UNDOF actively patrols the buffer zone with military personnel, two base camps, twenty permanently manned positions, eight daytime outposts, and eleven observation posts. A secondary buffer zone, which is a zone of limitation, exists beyond the UNDOF zone. The armaments and military personnel of the adjacent countries are limited in these zones, which are inspected every two weeks for compliance.

Peace reigned for awhile, but in 2013 tensions escalated, threatening the stability of the entire region. The UN base was targeted, with personnel being fired at or abducted. Weapons, ammunition, and vehicles were stolen, and UN facilities were destroyed. In response to these threats, the United Nations is considering measures to increase the military force in this zone, and improve the self-defense capabilities of UNDOF.

The United Nations is a peacekeeping organization, whose goal is to protect Earth from another world war if at all possible, and create harmony among nations. The UN also strives to help the people with humanitarian initiatives. The organization is involved in environmental issues and climate change issues as well.

As this is an organization that attempts to oversee issues on an Earth-wide level, conspiracy theorists have compared it to a one-world government, or a New World Order as prophecied in the Bible. According to the Bible, the house of the Lord himself will be established on the highest mountain, and many nations will come to this mountain.

There’s a major problem with these end-time prophecies regarding the Antichrist and his New World Order, and connecting them to the United Nations on Mt. Hermon. There have been a multitude of end-of-the-world predictions throughout the millenia. The world was supposed to end in the years:

70, 365, 400, 500, 793, 800, 806, 848, 995, 1000, 1033, 1186, 1260, 1284, 1351, 1370, 1378, 1504, 1524, 1528, 1533, 1555, 1585, 1588, 1600, 1635, 1648, 1654, 1656, 1657, 1658, 1660, 1666, 1673, 1688, 1689, 1694, 1697, 1700, 1705, 1706, 1707, 1716, 1719, 1734, 1736, 1757, 1763, 1780, 1789, 1792, 1794, 1795, 1805, 1806, 1814, 1836, 1843, 1847, 1853, 1862, 1863, 1873, 1874, 1889, 1890, 1901, 1910, 1911, 1914, 1915, 1918, 1920, 1925, 1935, 1936, 1941, 1943, 1947, 1954, 1959, 1962, 1967, 1969, 1972, 1973, 1975, 1977, 1980, 1981, 1982, 1985, 1987, 1988, 1989, 1990, 1991, 1992, 1993, 1994, 1995, 1996, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2020, 2021, 2026, 2060, 2129, 2239, 2280, 500000000, 5000000000, 22000000000, and beyond.

As you can see, we’re not alone in our belief that the sky is falling, and the world is about to end. Every major catastrophe and war has triggered an apocalyptic prediction. World War I, World War II, Hurricane Katrina wiping out New Orleans, the Y2K bug, the end of the Mayan calendar, the many wars and plagues that devastated Europe in earlier centuries, planetary alignments, and a host of other events have all resulted in predictions that the end times have arrived and we’re in the final countdown. One of these days, the end of the world will come. That’s a fact. But the how, and why, and when — that’s a mystery that we’ll be guessing at until our very last day on Earth.
