The Kiss of Death Strikes Again

Last night clinched it — my opinion is the kiss of death. This time it killed an All Star Celebrity Apprentice silent movie commercial.

I loved Gary Busey’s silent movie hands down over Trace Adkins’ silent movie. If I wasn’t grinning, I was giggling, through the whole movie.

We have TIVO which means we fast-forward through TV commercials, unless the commercial is highly entertaining which is rare. Gary’s commercial was entertaining enough that I’d actually go out of my way to watch it over, and over again. It was that cute.

I thought the silent movie commercial showcased the Australian Gold product all the way through the movie. The ending was memorable, and would keep Australian Gold in my mind long past the commercial.

And yet, they lost.

Trace Adkins’ silent movie was creative, and an interesting concept, but it didn’t grab me at all. I didn’t laugh. I didn’t smile. And if the product appeared before the end of the movie, I missed it. As a real commercial I would have fast-forwarded so brand messaging would have been totally lost.

Trace’s team won on a technicality, and I really believe the executives got it wrong. Gary Busey’s team should have won hands down. Not maybe, not neck and neck, but hands down.

So, my vote for their win was the kiss of death again. All I can say is that if you find yourself on my radar of shows, groups, or teams that I love — my deepest apologies.

Like Bret Michaels who was my favorite contestant, and thus got fired the very first week thanks to the underhanded wiles of my most despised contestant, the kiss of death strikes again!
